Each entity you own files its own return, yet the tax result depends on how they relate to each other and to you. We prepare and coordinate every filing, keep track of the money moving between your companies, and plan across the whole group, so no entity is handled in isolation.
Owners often add entities one at a time, and each one ends up with its own bookkeeper, software file, or preparer. Each return may be correct on its own, yet the group as a whole doesn’t add up. A loan appears on one company’s books, not the other’s. A K-1 arrives late, holding up your personal return. A loss in one entity goes unused because no one compared it against income in another.
Those gaps are where missed savings and IRS questions tend to come from. When one person prepares and reviews everything together, they get caught before the returns are filed.
Map the structure. In a free, confidential consultation, walk us through what you own. We put together a clear picture of every entity, who owns it, and how each one is taxed.
Review the connections. We look at how money moves between your companies and whether both sides record it consistently.
Coordinate the filings. We prepare each return in sequence, so K-1s are ready on time and your personal return isn’t left waiting.
Plan for the year ahead. We look across the group for savings and flag any structure that no longer fits the way you operate.
When each company runs in a separate QuickBooks file, or shares one that was never set up for multiple entities, the same transaction can end up recorded two different ways. Before we plan across your group, we make sure the books for each entity are current and that the amounts they owe each other match.
Most Texas entities file their own franchise tax report, and related companies may be required to report as a combined group. We sort out which rule applies to yours and keep those filings on the same calendar as your federal returns. After your free consultation, we are glad to meet in person anywhere in the Greater Austin area, and owners anywhere else in the country work with us by phone and video.
Most do. The main exception is a single-member LLC, which is usually reported on its owner’s return. We’ll confirm what each of yours requires.
The first conversation is free and confidential. Tell us what you own and how it’s set up, and we’ll show you where coordination could save you time and tax.
