Know what you’ll owe before the year ends, while there’s still time to lower it.

Most tax savings are decided months before a return is prepared. We look ahead with you throughout the year, so the choices that reduce your bill get made on time, and the amount due in the spring is one you already expected.

Four places we look for savings

  • Entity structure. We check whether the way your company is set up and taxed still fits its size and profit, and what a change would save.
  • Deductions and credits. We review what you’re spending on equipment, hiring, and development to find deductions and credits you’re entitled to and may be missing.
  • Timing. We help you decide when to make a purchase, bill a large job, or pay yourself, since the same dollars can be taxed differently depending on the year they land in.
  • Long-term plans. We factor in where the company is headed, including growth, a new location, a second entity, or an eventual sale.

After December 31, most of your options are gone.

A tax return reports what has already happened. By the time it’s being prepared, the year is closed, and there’s little left to do except pay what the numbers say. Many owners first learn about a large balance at that point, with no time left to change it.

Planning moves that conversation earlier. We look at your numbers during the year, estimate where you’ll land, and show you what can still be done. You make the decisions, and we make sure you have the facts in time to make them.

Moments when a quick call can save real money

A tax plan is only as reliable as the books behind it.

A projection based on numbers three months behind is a guess. That’s why planning works best when your books are current and your software is feeding them accurately. If yours need attention first, we take care of that, then plan from figures you can trust.

Texas has no income tax, and still plenty to plan for.

Franchise tax, sales tax, and property tax all affect what a Texas company keeps, and each has its own rules and deadlines. We’ve worked with Austin owners since 2005 and plan with those in mind. After your free consultation, we are glad to meet in person anywhere in the Greater Austin area, and owners anywhere else in the country work with us by phone and video.
